Car Park Facilities

 To all users,

As many of you will be aware and will know from your own experiences, the car park attached to both the Quinborne Community Centre and Quinton Library can be a very busy and stressful place to negotiate. Whether your group runs during the morning, or you attend from the afternoon / into the evening, we understand how difficult it can sometimes be to park on-site.

Over the past few years, we have had complaints leading to several groups leaving us simply because they cannot park. The main issue being is that people are parking on the car park but not using either service. This can be through the public using the car park to drop-off / collect children from school, people parking up and catching the bus into Birmingham or those using us as a car share meeting location. We have also begun to experience issues on the night when the facilities are closed, this not only affects ourselves but also local residents that are having to put up with the anti-social behaviour that is taking place on the car park.

In short this has meant that centre / library users have either had to park on the road or in some circumstances been left no option but to return home. We feel this is completely unfair for those who legitimately want to come in and use the facilities we have on offer. With all of this taken into consideration, we have been given little option but to act in what we hope will make the parking situation here at a lot easier. After months of ongoing talks and along with Birmingham City Library Services we have reached an agreement with Creative Car Park.

Starting in July, Creative Car Park a regulated parking company that use high quality CCTV systems, coupled with an experienced and licenced CCTV parking database, will be operating the car park. Once this system is installed, the car park will strictly be for those who are using the centre and Library, for those who continue to wrongfully park there will be an instant fine of up to £100, which is to be paid directly to Creative Car Park.

Neither Quinborne Community Centre nor Quinton Library will have any involvement in collection of these fines.

So how will this work? Many of you will have seen and used the system we will be installing when you have visited other venues and it will be the same here. There will be two tablets located across the building one being on reception and one being in the café, there will also be another tablet installed at the main reception in the library for their users. Quinborne users will now have to enter via the main doors of the building to gain access to their classes and not through the doors at the back of Bennett Hall.

Upon entering the building all you and your users will have to do is simply add your registration, it is vitally important that you do this to prevent any charge.

If we can see that someone has abused the system we can speak directly to Creative Car Park and let them know our reasoning, they will remove the cars registration from the system, rendering them as parking illegally.

You must also park in a designated parking bay; the car park will be being re-lined on the 3rd of August so this should help stop any confusion regarding what the designated car parking areas are.

We understand that this new implement is going to take some getting used to, but we feel it is for the good for both users of the centre and the library.

We truly believe this system will help the centre and take a lot of pressure off yourselves when using the onsite facilities.
