The children have explored many themes during the month of May,  these include : 

  • Kings Coronation - Finding out about new King, the older children voted for their own group King & Queen, making golden carriages, union Jack flags and crowns. Developing knowledge of British Vales and being creative with materials.
  • Exploring the outdoor environment - Making mud pies in the nursery mud kitchen, making watering cans with milk bottles to water the plants, making binoculars to look for bugs, worms and aeroplanes in the sky. This also included the weather, children have enjoyed the rainy weather especially splashing in the puddles and standing under the umbrella listening to the rain. These skills expand the children's knowledge of understanding the natural world.
  • Transport- Talking about different types of transport : Aeroplane spotting, how fire engines help us by putting out fires and washing cars in their own car washes.
  • Role-play - Dressing up as doctor / nurses and helping their patient friends. Going on a camping holiday, using a tent and building campfires. 
  • Mark Marking - Experimenting and developing mark marking skills in paint, water, gloop, glue, foam, yoghurt and talc by using cotton buds, toothbrushes, wool, pom poms, forks and brushes.
  • Physical Development - Exercising outside in the beautiful weather, all the nursery have started to take part in the mile walk around the centre with their friends.
